Deer are known to see in the ultraviolet range of the electromagnetic spectrum.  That means that some objects, especially those that reflect UV light, will appear different to a deer than to your eyes.  Here are two photos of some arrows, the first shot with a regular flash and the second illuminated by an ultraviolet bulb.

(L to R) Natural turkey feathers; TrueFlight Yellow feathers; TrueFlight Artificial Barred feathers; TrueFlight White feathers.  All four have white Bohning Classic nocks.  The two in the center are crown dipped with Bohning lacquer.

Now the same arrows photographed with UV light:

Note that the natural turkey feather disappears, which is exactly what you'd expect.  Surprisingly, the yellow fletching also disappears.  Both of the white fletchings, however, glow brightly.  Note also that the nocks and crown dip paint also vanish.

Guess which colors I use for 3-D, and which go into my hunting quiver?
